My Sixth Investment – SoFi (Website)

SoFi

SoFi is a hybrid checking and savings, investment, and loan platform that allows you to make the most of online interaction between account types. Fee-free 2.00% APY savings, extremely low minimum balance investing, and multiple low-rate loan options are some of the things SoFi offers. Using the link above, you can get an extra amount on student loan refinancing or a personal loan. Not sure how that one works, but I think they just give you a cash amount for referring and referred parties once the loan is approved.

Snapshot

SoFi

SoFi’s invement platform allows the constant change of investment style from Conservative to Aggressive and utilizes their own mix of ETFs alongside some of Vanguard’s.

Here’s a breakdown of my Aggressive $6.00 worth of investment.

With their extremely low minimum balance requirements, it makes testing this venture a lot less risky. I have opted to start the account with $5.00 and will deposit $1.00 a month until such a time as enough data is gathered to determine if their investing is viable. I will likely try to change the investing style as well for further data, or open a new account to run in conjunction with it.

There are automatic investing and active investing accounts, depending on your preference.

I have not had experience with their checking and savings account hybrid. Their loans do seem to require very high credit score, or very clean record. They do offer partner loan sites that may be able to assist you with your loan request.

At any rate, SoFi has a very clean and easy to read interface, though exploring the site may be a little confusing because there are so many pieces. However, once you know how to navigate the site, they provide a lot of good information and options.

I started on July 12 of 2019, so we will see where the next few months takes us.
